Course Selection Presentation for students entering Grade 10 in September 2025

Preparing to select your courses for 2025-2026

In December 2024, Guidance Counsellors will be visiting all Grade 9 classes to start the course selection process.  They will share a great deal of information and tips for planning your pathway and course selections.  Listen carefully and don’t be afraid to ask questions!

After the presentations, discuss your pathway plans and goals with your parents/caregivers.  If you have any questions, ask your guidance counsellor or teachers.  Use the information and links contained on this webpage to do your research.

Course Selection “Cheat Sheet”  – Hard copies available in Guidance!

myBlueprint is key to helping you plan your pathway.  Be sure you log into your account and use the resources within the site to help you.  Course descriptions contained within myBlueprint will help you to make your decisions about course selections.

Once you’ve finalized all your course selections, you will submit these choices in myBlueprint (Course Selection Submission is scheduled to open on January 15 2024 – we will send you reminders!)

Step 1:  Choose Your Compulsory Courses

Students are required to take 9 courses in Grade 10 (7 full credit and 2 half-credit).  This is important when you double-check your course selections.

All Grade 10 students must take the following six compulsory courses:

  • English – all students will select ENG2DI
  • Mathematics – all students will select MPM2DI
  • Science – all students will select SNC2DI
  • Canadian History – all students will select CHC2DI  (note:  Extended French students will select CGC1WF for the 2025/26 school year)
  • Civics – CHV2OH (note: Extended French students should plan on taking CHV2OF in their Grade 11 year and therefore should carefully consider course selection for Grade 10)
  • Careers – GLC2OH (note: Extended French students should plan on taking GLC2OF in their Grade 11 year and therefore should carefully consider course selection for Grade 10)

Step 2: Choose Your Three Optional/Elective Courses

After choosing six compulsory courses, you will choose three elective courses.  With the exception of Grade 10 French, all optional/elective courses are “open” level (meaning that you do not need to have taken any pre-requisite courses).

You will find everything you need to help you make your choices (course descriptions, graduation requirements, instructions for using myBlueprint) by clicking on the link to the supplement!

Course Descriptions for all FHCI courses offered in 2024-25 are available in the public FHCI myBlueprint page – please carefully review them when you are making your course selections.

E-learning/Online Learning Requirements

Note that all students will need to complete the equivalent of 2 full credits of online/e-learning courses in order to graduate (unless a parent/caregiver signs the opt out form).

To help you with your planning, the WRDSB will offer the following courses in 2024-2025 through our e-learning platform.  Please speak to your guidance counsellor if you plan to take these courses through the e-learning platform versus regular in-school programming.  You must indicate your choice to take the e-learning courses in myBlueprint by selecting the correct course codes that end in “E”.

Step 3: Enter Your Courses in myBlueprint

Course selections must be completed in myBlueprintNote:  You should select the School Account Login option.  This will allow you to use your WRDSB PAL account login.

  • When Course Selection is open, your High School planner page becomes your course selection page – follow the steps to select, review and submit your course selections
  • Step By Step Guide:  Course Selection Process in myBlueprint
  • You will need to provide your parent/caregiver’s email address to have your selections approved electronically – please be prepared to do this!

COURSE SELECTION SUBMISSIONS will close at NOON on Monday, March 3 2025

Step 4:  Course Selection Verification Process (after March Break 2025)

If we do not receive an electronic confirmation of your parent’s  approval of your course selection, we will print a copy and have students take it home to be signed.

If we do not receive an electronic confirmation of your parent’s  approval of your course selection, we will print a copy and have students take it home to be signed.

Our goal is to have a signed hard copy OR approved electronically course selection submission for EVERY SINGLE STUDENT!
