Our School
Opened in 1964 under the guidance of its first Principal, Mr. R. Dunford (1964-1978), Forest Heights Collegiate Institute (FHCI), home of the Trojans, serves Northwest Kitchener, receiving its students from A.R. Kaufman P.S., Laurentian Senior P.S., MacGregor Senior P.S., Queensmount P.S., and Westheights P.S.

Our school motto, Sit Tuum Tollere (“to hold the torch high”) is exhibited in many of our values and in encouraging our students to take the lead in developing these qualities within themselves as important, contributing members of society.
Our Students
The FHCI community has about 1200 students with approximately 100 staff (teaching, custodial, secretarial and cafeteria). Our students are involved in a wide variety of activities within the school ranging from athletics to the arts to academics. The benefits of being involved within the school community often spread out into the wide community of Kitchener through events such as charity fund-raising and co-op education.
FHCI is an English as a Second Language (ESL) Magnet school with approximately 200 students, speaking at least 50 different languages, enrolled in the ESL program. Our students enjoy the benefit that comes of being such a large school, in that there is no lack of things in which to participate. Our staff members are very willing to support a wide range of clubs and teams for students where they experience the sense of belonging and accomplishment.
