Successful completion of the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) is one of the requirements needed to earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma.  The OSSLT is a computer based assessment written over two days – a 65 minute session on the first day and a 75 minute session on the second day.

Grade 10 Students

Grade 10 students who are taking English this semester  will write the OSSLT on Wed. Nov. 15th and Thurs. Nov. 16th with their English classes.  Grade 10 students who are enrolled in an English class in second semester will write in April 2024.

Students in ESL and ELD Language Classes

Students in ESL or ELD language courses will write the OSSLT on Tues. Nov. 21st and Wed. Nov. 22nd.

Previously Eligible Students

Students in Grades 11 and 12 who have not yet successfully completed the OSSLT, and are not enrolled in the Literacy Course, will write the OSSLT on Tues. Nov. 21st and Wed. Nov. 22nd.

Students who are writing the test on the above dates will receive an email detailing where and when students will write the OSSLT.  Parents and guardians will also receive the email, if we have email contact information in our files.  If you have not received an email by Tues. Nov. 7th, please contact Vice Principal Del Rizzo at giampiero_delrizzo@wrdsb.ca.

There will be no disruptions to classes for students who are not scheduled to write the literacy test and they should attend their regularly scheduled classes.
