Celebrating Graduating Students

From June 10th to 16th, our graduating students had an opportunity to participate in a series of fun, virtual Grad Spirit days.  From sporting their best FHCI spirit wear to dressing up in “prom” clothes, our senior students displayed their school pride in their class Google Meets and through photos posted to fhcigrads2021 Instagram.  Thank you to Ms. Pickett and our leadership students for organizing these awesome Grad Spirit days, and our classroom teachers for supporting and making celebrating our graduating students a priority!

Our Grad Spirit week culminated in a virtual Grad Assembly that was live-streamed on the afternoon of June 17th.  The accomplishments of our graduating students in all areas of student life were celebrated, teachers shared their congratulations, and the class valedictorian, Ian Willcock, provided the closing remarks.  A huge thank you to Ian for being such a good ambassador for the class of 2021!  Ian was also interviewed this week by CBC radio and you can hear the full interview here.  If you missed attending the Grad Assembly, a recording of the full event has been posted in the Grad Google classroom.  Thank you to all the staff who helped to organize the assembly (too numerous to mention here by name), and to our amazing assembly MCs – Jayden Wright and Jackson Ohrling who did a fantastic job hosting!

Graduating students are reminded that we continue our grad celebrations this week with in-person opportunities to receive graduation packages and diplomas.  It is not too late to sign-up for an in-person opportunity, so make sure to visit the Grad Google classroom for more information and to access all the links that you need.  If you have any concerns or questions, please contact the main office or email Rebecca_Main@wrdsb.ca.

Trojan Art Gallery

On the evening of June 17th, our Visual Art department created an outdoor Trojan Art Gallery by projecting images of our students’ artwork and digital creations on the side of the school.  It was a lovely, summer-like night as students and their families had the opportunity to view and celebrate the artistic talent that we have here at FHCI.  If you were unable to attend the outdoor event, you can view the full portfolio of artwork here:

End-of-Year Celebration

To celebrate the accomplishments of all of our students, all classroom teachers will be sharing an End-of-Year Video with their classes.  We know that this school year has been like no other and we want to thank all students and families for all of their hard work, their flexibility and their ongoing contributions to the FHCI community.

The video highlights the positive moments that we have experienced as a community, some pieces of student work, and provides staff an opportunity to share personal good wishes for the summer and for September, including this fabulous original recording from Mr. Spee!
