At this morning’s Honours’ Assembly and Breakfast, we recognized the academic achievements of our students and the many dedicated years of service of our three retiring staff members – Ms. Cook, Mr. Grondin and Mr. Hui.

Ms. Cook has been teaching for 31 years and spent her entire career as an FHCI Trojan.  She taught English and drama for 16 years and during that time, she was involved with the drama club and the Sears Drama Festival (now NTS Festival).  In 2004, Ms. Cook joined the Special Education department where she has been working ever since and has served as the Head of the Department for the last four years.  We celebrate Ms. Cook’s knowledge of special education, her advocacy for students and her leadership.

Mr. Hui started his career teaching mathematics in Ingersoll in 1987.  In 1999, he started teaching and coaching at Forest Heights.  It is a well-known fact that if you can’t find Mr. Hui in his math classroom, you can find him on the courts!  He has successfully coached numerous Trojan volleyball and badminton players at Forest Heights, leading many teams and players to WCSSAA, CWOSSA and OFSAA championships.  Mr. Hui’s dedication as a teacher and coach was also recognized at our Athletic Banquet yesterday evening.

Mr. Grondin started his career teaching at KCI in 1989, and became a Trojan in 2007.  His passion for teaching computer science has led many of his students to pursue this subject at post-secondary schools such as the university of Waterloo, and many now work for tech companies such as Google and Facebook.  We also thank Mr. Grondin for his many years of running computer science contests and leading the FHCI Chess Team (to many victories).

We extend our thanks and gratitude to Ms. Cook, Mr. Grondin, and Mr. Hui for all of their contributions to Forest Heights and wish them well in their retirement!
